Ultrasound parameters for evaluating local hemodynamics of internal carotid artery anomalies

چکیده

Background: Despite the high prevalence of internal carotid artery (ICA) anomalies, there is still no consensus on which parameters should be used to evaluate their local hemodynamics and what significance each parameter holds. Objective: To determine various ultrasound for evaluating ICA anomalies. Materials methods: In our cross-sectional observational study 427 outpatients underwent ultrasound. assessment, we a cluster analysis entire sample (n = 386), taking into account deformation coefficient, angle deformation, blood flow turbulence at site maximum peak velocity deformation. Based results, did discriminant function analysis. Results: During clustering patients from total 3 clusters were formed. We indicators used. found that all them had small Wilks’ Lambda indicating greater discriminatory ability. The coefficient was most significant as it smallest value (0.26). “Tolerance” showed independent indicator (0.67). Conclusions: Our anomalies with being least parameter.

Hemodilution improves cerebral hemodynamics in internal carotid artery occlusion.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Hemodilution may be a useful form of therapy for patients with carotid occlusive disease and hemodynamic ischemia. Accordingly, we evaluated the effects of hemodilution on cerebral hemodynamics and oxygen metabolism in patients with carotid artery occlusion. METHODS Using positron emission tomography, we analyzed regional cerebral blood flow, oxygen extraction fraction,...

Internal Carotid Artery Web: Doppler Ultrasound with CT Angiography correlation.

We present a case of an internal carotid web, detected on duplex ultrasound and confirmed by CT angiography. To our knowledge, this is only the third reported ultrasound case in the imaging literature. This vascular abnormality can cause a clinically significant carotid stenosis and is a risk factor for recurrent embolic cerebrovascular events. Due to small size and poor awareness among radiolo...

Recurring extracranial internal carotid artery vasospasm detected by intravascular ultrasound.

A 24-year-old woman presented with headache and left-sided focal signs following multiple episodes of right monocular visual impairment. Magnetic resonance angiography revealed a decreased vascular image intensity due to a suspicious stenosis in the right internal carotid artery (ICA). The stenosis was not demonstrated on duplex sonography as it was beyond the field of view of the investigation...

Internal carotid artery occlusion diagnosed by Doppler ultrasound.

Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion Diagnosed by Doppler Ultrasound • Using a transcutaneous Doppler ultrasonic blood velocity detector, retrograde ophthalmic artery blood flow was demonstrated in four patients, all of whom had angiographically confirmed occluded internal carotid arteries. In three, compression of the facial artery obliterated the ophthalmic artery signal. In a fourth patient com...
